Re: Thurs rain/wind Storm  (reply)
The models have been waffling back and forth between an inland runner and a coastal hugger for this storm. They can't decide on whether how southern and northern system will interact or phase with each other. So I wouldn't get too excited for t-storms yet ...

Re: Thurs rain/wind Storm  (reply)
Someone at AccuWeather used to use that term at times...frisky thunderstorms. I haven't heard it in a long time. I like it though. My "cutsie" weather term is for when winds are increasing during a particular day I will say a "quickening wind." I used it ...

Something to Watch?  (topic)
The storm that is being predicted for early december is on the maps. Even though it is 200+ hours out there are few things to note. The high pressure before it really takes the kick out of any cold air. http://www.nco.ncep.noaa..../images/gfs_pcp_192l. ...

Re: No high and lack of cold air means:  (reply)
All other 12z models today take this storm well to the west. So the GFS solution is not likely to verify. Also, I'm starting this pattern change might be serious. The MJO seems to be trucking along, at phase 6 now. If it continues at this pace, I think ...

Re: Where's the rain  (reply)
The storm went further east, than most of models forecasted. Most of the rain fell over LI and CT this morning.
