Yes I do all the maddness of the GFS later this month and some has truth to it. Not every storm will bring snow it may even be rain or nothing at all. One thing is for sure the -NAO or Negative North Atlantic Oscillation is gonna be a "playa" in the second half of the month. Throw in EL...

THURSDAY 9 A.M.
IS THIS THE COLDEST FRONT 10 DAYS OF DECEMBER IN DENVER HISTORY?

I don't know, but it's got to be darn close. The front nine days are -17.9 and today should be around 17 below normal, so that is a heck of a number to beat.

The next round of cold, later in the month (10-day period) instead of being centered on the Front Range will be in the south-central Appalachians... probably on the same...

really cant stand living in the city anymore!!!

It's one thing sitting by the computer and discussing the cold and a world in it's own going out in the cold.....My friends I'm frozen to the bone the wind is making it feel much colder....And the temperatures are expected to drop to the low 20's tonight....To sum it up...The worst is yet to come ! I thought of a bit of a fun idea we can do to track the progress of a potential white Christmas. With Christmas only two weeks away that means it's just in range for the GFS. Every day at 0z and/or 12z, we can post the GFS frame for Christmas day. This way we can see how the model handles energy and systems over time and see what kind of day-to-day problems we can run into as well. Plus, who doesn't want a white Christmas?

I'll get the ball rolling with today's...

Living in rockland my entire life, i know what 10-20 miles can mean in terms of snowfall. Watching the rain/snow line creep up north ! How about this for a few miles difference.. My forecast is for 6 - 12 inches in the next 2 days. 12 miles south of me has a difference LES warning for..

Not sure how the winds are down at home in the tristate, but gusts of 60+ mph have been recorded here in buffalo along with light snow whipping around in your face. Walking my dog was NOT cool!

Here is his take about the weekend storm...It sounds to me things are falling apart...

"Here's my first guess on the snowfall for this weekend's storm. While it will not be a big storm, it still shows us that the storm track wants to be in the East. Big cities will be on the rain/snow line for this storm, but I can see how they get 1-3 inches of snow. "
