I was asked by Tech to do a little write up as pertains to models, what they mean, and what to look for; especially as pertains to snow. That's snow the white, fluffy precipitation. Not the guy who posts here.

First, lets go through the models. There are a LOT of them now. And sometimes I wonder if it's a case of "too many cooks ruin the broth." Anyway, the American models are as such:

A.) OPTION 1: In the beginning of the season, place a light-colored board (around 2ft x 2ft) in a flat, open, grassy area. This is where the spotter will be taking measurements. Put a stake in the ground, by the board so you can find it in the snow. Light color is crucial for the accurate temperature of the surface and the way it reflects sunlight.

There are two types of pics most people post- pics from other sites (radars/sats, mostly) and pics from your computer (snow forecast maps, snow aftermath pics, etc).

PICS FROM OTHER SITES (such as radars)..........
